Re: MECCG items for sale

Wow, that's a rare sight! Also, the prices on Balrog have really shot through the roof. The last time I saw a case go on sale, it went for only $650 (!), if you can believe it. Sort of wish I'd bought it myself, but my spouse probably wouldn't have been pleased... [-me_cp-]

Re: September 22

Ha, nice find. Would have been better if they had worked a "this is the end" reference into their announcement, though. Serious missed opportunity there.

Re: Arda Ten Years Later

For a while, I was working on creating a special dream card set for use with hero Arda, with the intention of bringing more life to some lesser-used cards and making many of the iconic characters a bit more exciting to play (e.g. redesigning Legolas and Gimli so that they do something fun when they'...

Re: Arda Minion

One thought, though - sideboard access usually puts the card in your deck or discard pile, right? Is the Arda modification that you just exchange a single card in your hand for a single card in the sideboard (whenever you take the appropriate action, like tapping your Avatar or playing certain card...

Re: Mount Slain

I thought something like that might technically be the case. I suppose it is one of those cases where the authors of the card thought it was perfectly clear that only one Mount Slain could be played per failed strike, and never expected that players might try to double (or triple) up on the 2 MPs. T...

Re: Mount Slain

It seems that you should have to play them sequentially (i.e. you have to resolve the first copy of Mount Slain before you can play a second copy). If this is the case, then the card text, "If still in active play following its body check, discard the Ringwraith" would seem to prevent you from playi...

Re: Arda Minion

I have been toying playing with the wizard specific attachments from Fallen Wizards in the regular ARDA deck. But honestly, the game plays great without them and I'm not sure what more they add. In any case there is nothing wrong with any of these ideas. Play what is most fun for you and your group...

Re: FW Orc/Troll Still Without Trophies

Considering the question thematically, taking trophies should only be allowed for characters in overt companies. Generally speaking, trolls and orcs are always in overt companies. Half-orcs introduced a problem: they can be in overt or covert companies. It would seem that I.C.E. dealt with this ambi...

Re: Conjecture of why this game has crappy rulings and no errata

That's more what I meant. Instead of maintaining all of these separate (and inconsistent, scattered, poorly-documented) rules sources from ages ago, it would make far more sense to consolidate "how everyone plays" into a modern set of rules, errata, and clarifications that are all in one place and a...

Re: Conjecture of why this game has crappy rulings and no errata

All of this historical context raises the questions of whether the rulings made by Ichabod are worth the parchment cyberspace they're written on? Might the game be on firmer footing if his rulings were completely nullified and new rulings, clarifications, and errata were issued from a relatively bla...

Re: FS (order) - Custom Avatar-specific Dice

I received my dice over the weekend, and had a chance to play an ARDA game using the Gandalf and Minion dice (the latter for body checks against opponents  ). Apart from a distressing number of snake eyes for Gandalf, these dice were amazing. Good work, Chris, and thanks again for all the e...

Re: WTT - 120 US Dollars for Opened Balrog Set

Depends on who's buying, but LL certainly can fetch for $60 and up, I'd say. I remember buying a *very* worn copy for $20 about 3 years ago, and considering myself lucky!

Re: Considering selling complete MEAS set (NM/M condition)

Exactly. I see a lot of Balrog sets go unsold at that price for months (and I keep a close eye on MECCG listings).
