Detainment and Trophies

This discussion was started in a different thread (https://councilofelrond.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5281) but I wanted to bring it to the forefront as I believe it merits further disucssion. Question at hand: can a detainment creature attack result in an orc or troll character taking a tro...

Re: Shelob's Brood detainment?

I wonder what is a sense of using "zero marshalling points" card as a trophy. Well the COE rules have an answer for that as well (from the section on Trophies): "A character’s attributes are modified based on the total number of marshalling points printed on its trophy cards (regardl...

Re: Shelob's Brood detainment?

"Detainment attack from creature is never defeated." The COE rules document seems to disagree with you. From 3.II Detainment: "A detainment creature attack is not worth marshalling points to a player that defeats it." And also from 3.IV Trophies: "Creatures being used as tro...

Re: Shelob's Brood detainment?

Thanks Konrad. Half the fun of this game is trying to figure out how the rules actually work haha. Tangentially related question: A Ringwraith player can only ever score kill MP from creatures marked with an * correct? Regardless of whether or not a non-* attack is detainment or not, they won't scor...

Re: Shelob's Brood detainment?

"Rules Erratum: Attacks keyed to Darkhavens are detainment."

If this is the case, shouldn't this rule be included in the new COE Official Game Rules under 3.II Detainment?

Shelob's Brood detainment?

Relevant section from the rules: "A Ringwraith player treats any attack keyed to a Dark-domain, Dark-hold, Shadow-hold, or Darkhaven against their companies as detainment. This rule also applies to attacks keyed by name to a region or site of the appropriate type." Would Shelob's Brood pla...

Really basic question - are your hazard permanent/long events active during your own turn

Haven't played in a few years, and I'm just going through some decks that I had built and trying to refresh on how to play again, so I apologize for the very basic question here, but I can't find a definitive answer in the comprehensive rules. Are my own hazard permanent and long events active durin...

Fallen-Wizard free minor items

From MEWH Rules PLAYING RESOURCES AT A SITE In order to play a non-Fallen-wizard resource that would normally tap a site, either the site and the resource to be played must both be hero cards or they must both be minion cards. For these purposes, a Fallenwizard site card (or any Wizardhaven) is both...

Re: Timing Rules - Example Snowstorm

...Or I just found this from the URD: A card causing an action as a result of a passive condition must be in play when the action resolves, or else the action is canceled [CRF]. So assuming my understanding that the text of Snowstorm: Each moving company with a Wilderness in its site path must retur...

Timing Rules - Example Snowstorm

Here's the situation: Player A has two companies. During the first company's MH phase, Player B plays Snowstorm and it resolves. The first company is thus immediately returned to it's site of origin (it has a [-me_wi-] in the site path) and it's MH phase ends. The second company's MH phase begins - ...

Re: Padding Feet - how does the Stinker option work exacrly?

Ah, that makes more sense. Thanks for clearing that up. That really changes the context of the card from "easy 5 points in 3 turns" to "highly situation risky adventure" :P
