Re: Thrall of the Voice: Character Play Restrictions

Bounty of the Hoard does not make something playable. It has an action that is implemented at resolution. Again, by its verb tense Bounty of the Hoard modifies the legality of a (previously defined) play action taken upon an item. It does not create/allow its own item play action. I have presented ...

Re: Actions created by playing an item

Returning to Forgotten Scrolls: i do not know whether it is intended, but if the Trap attack wold be action caused by passive condition, then character that has played Forgotten Scrolls could avoid it if he would lost Forgotten Scrolls, or leaved active play in the chain of effect in which Forgotten...

Re: Actions created by playing an item

But with Forgotten Scrolls, the attack action would happen unconditionally even if it used "if" instead of "after." So it seems there is no issue? That would be a difference. And that would make Forgotten Scrolls a strange card that checks for fact whether it has been played. The phase "following t...

Re: Actions created by playing an item

Forgotten Scrolls is a minor item. Unlike Event cards, Item cards do not have actions that are resolved in the order listed on the card in the same chain of effects. Just that. However some non-events may cause actions described in their text. Whether some of the actions are activated by passive co...

Re: Actions created by playing an item

By what reasoning does the use of "if" vs "after" make an action be triggered by a passive condition or not? I think use of "if" vs "after" as no meaning in the context of passive conditions. All that needs to be done is establish that an action is triggered by some condition in the game. Differenc...

Re: Thrall of the Voice: Character Play Restrictions

Another cumbersome methods of not being played, not being in play, but still having effect on game, anyway. When Bad Company is revealed, it's effect becomes active and you can play an Orc. When Hidden Haven is revealed you must specify the [-me_rl-] which is your starting site, If both (at least tw...

Re: Actions created by playing an item

If you are playing anything to affect the Spider attack from Rescue Prisoners then you are doing it in nested chain of effects.
Not before/after, not in response to Rescue Prisoners. You are interrupting the chain of effects in which Rescue Prisoners has been declared/is resolving.

Re: Actions created by playing an item

"Immediately untap all unwounded characters in Gandalf's company." The word "immediately" implies that it happens immediately upon playing the card. This is not the case. The characters do not untap until resolution of the card. "Immediately" is used in many cards and has no meaning. No. The word "...

Re: Thrall of the Voice: Character Play Restrictions

As said before, during the GETTING READY TO PLAY setup, the timing rules don't apply. Character's are not played according to the rules. Events are not played according to the rules. Minor items are not played according to the rules. The GETTING READY TO PLAY setup process has its own rules. There ...

Re: Passive Conditions

I still disagree with the proposal because, most importantly, there is no actual problem to be solved here. No gameplay issue was ever given as an example. And also, I disagree with most of the premises. Actions occurring as a result of wounding a characters is not a good example of passive conditi...

Actions occurring as a result of wounding a characters is not a good example of passive conditions because this issue is covered by the Strike Sequence rules as well.
Character may become wounded also outside of Strike Sequence.

Re: Stormcrow and permanent-events playing history

Plausibly intended? Needlessly complicated. "The direct influence of each Wizard is reduced by 2 (by 4 if Doors of Night is in play). Discard all resource permanent-events on each company with a Wizard (i.e., on the company as a whole, not individual characters, e.g., Fellowship). No such cards may...

Stormcrow and permanent-events playing history

The direct influence of each Wizard is reduced by 2 (by 4 if Doors of Night is in play). Discard all resource permanent-events that have been played on each company with a Wizard (i.e., on the company as a whole, not individual characters, e.g., Fellowship). No such cards may be played on each Wiza...

Re: Thrall of the Voice: Character Play Restrictions

And how different is
"A minor or major item may be played." of Hoard Well-searched
from
"One minor or major item may be played at a tapped site that contains a hoard." of Bounty of the Hoard
?

What makes one "an action" and other "an effect"?
Or maybe both are "effects"?

Re: Passive Conditions

Proposed regulations: "1. If a card specifies that an action is to occur as a result of some specific passive condition, this action becomes automatically the first action declared in a chain of effects, which, if necessary, immediately follows the chain of effects producing the passive condition. 2...
