Re: Parsimony of Seclusion
Simple example: You declare the ability of Spider of the Morlat to return to your hand. This targets Spider of the Morlat (action: return card to your hand. entity: Spider of the Morlat card). When the card resolves, Spider of the Morlat is returned to your hand. But the annotation says that Spider ...

Re: Standard Modifications (overhaul)
I like the Van Norton quote. If only because it serves as a reminder that no questions on something now doesn't mean no questions on something in the future. And the game managed to become just as divided and factional simply because half of the players were basing their rules and rulings on the pla...

Re: Standard Modifications (overhaul)
That's it in a nutshell. The reasoning for each is: 1) for using the alignment of the card in play, this is clearly the most intuitive, as that's how everybody's been assuming it works. This would cause the least confusion for new players. 2) for using the alignment of the player/influencer, this is...

Re: Standard Modifications (overhaul)
The author knows that most everyone playing MELE will understand how to interpret standard modifications on hero cards. The author knows that the reader understands what "Dúnedain (+1)" means from METW. The author knows that the Standard Rules in both METW and the Standard rules in MELE, say to use...

Re: Placing Corruption Cards
In general, I feel there are so many instances of played vs placed that appear on card texts, that it may be better to simply approach these with reasonable common sense while playing MECCG, rather than attempt to fix them all. :? Unfortunately, reasonable common sense has a hard time follow...

Re: "make Information playable" vs "nothing is considered playable as written on site"
I don't think there's any basis for such an interpretation. Magic Ring of X does not add to the character card text. A character with two Magic Rings of Courage would become a Warrior with one and get the bonus with the other, but in neither case is that taken as an alteration to text. I do not know...

Re: Standard Modifications (overhaul)
A Ringwraith player certainly CAN arrive at this conclusion by looking at the modifications "as given on the card." If the card says "Dúnedain (+1)" and the Ringwraith's character making the influence attempt is a Dúnedain, then how could the +1 possibly not apply? Is the Ringwraith player supposed...

Re: Standard Modifications (overhaul)
We've already come to the conclusion that "use" is a lousy word.

Re: Standard Modifications (overhaul)
This is not a "rule." It is a description. It's neither. It's a definition. GLOSSARY The following list provides a definition of the most common game terms. In many cases, the most pertinent rules associated with each term are also given. And even if we take the stance that "Minion: A character con...

Re: Standard Modifications (overhaul)
How is it possible to use both hero and minion characters AND have in play and in deck only hero characters IF All of your non-Orc/Troll characters are considered to be hero characters? Card type is not the same thing as card status. A minion agent is always a minion agent card. A minion agent in p...

Re: Standard Modifications (overhaul)
And what part of the rules actually make an Orc or Troll minion character lose their minion status? Minion: A character controlled by a Ringwraith player. Quit being stupid. There is no innate "minion" status. There is an innate minion card type. Non-Ringwraith minion cards have a rusted-purplish i...

Re: Standard Modifications (overhaul)
As the rules are currently written, yes. ICE's intention doesn't seem to have been that (pending further information), but intention is not the same thing as what is written.

ICE Digest 43 wrote: >I thought a FW company containing Orcs and Trolls was only overt, but >not minion? The company is overt, but the character is a minion.
