Re: Sleeves wanted!

I really like Mayday Games for sleeves -- they're decent quality, lots of color options, and they regularly have big sales so if you're patient you can stock up for a very reasonable price.

Re: MECCG Map Attempt

The third use case is to print it out huge and use it as a table-sized mat underneath your (Arda) game.

Re: Advice on selling a big lot of Rare Cards

You might want to split them by language, at least, as CMDavis suggests. In the US, the French LE cards, for example, won't have much demand. But an English lot with a bunch of Assassins and a couple other decent METW rares might sell. I'd recommend selling the three copies of The Ithil-Stone separa...

Re: Never published MECCG Products

This reminds me that I'm supposed to be working on updating the avatar templates for the Dragons! Here's a sneak peak at an early idea for Smaug the Golden:

Re: ATS R1 odds?

No! Stop opening sealed product -- it should be in a museum!! But seriously, if you're looking to build your collection for play you're probably much better off trying to buy up already opened collections than going after sealed stuff.

Re: MECCG: Second Edition (LORE CG, the Lord of the Rings Expandable Card Game)

The timing rules and the discard to reserve pile sound very similar to the mechanics for the Star Wars CCG, which to be fair has a very clean set of mechanics.

Re: "Common" Hazard Deck

What CDavis7M proposes would be a really good starting point from which to experiment. Alternatively, I suggest building a 60-card hazard deck including lots of Orcs, Men, Wolves, and Spiders. Include Doors of Night, minions stir, wake of war, rank upon rank, etc. I would include every orc. Also inc...

Re: "Common" Hazard Deck

If you want to go that route, it might be easier to develop a variant to the Arda format, since it's already halfway to what you're looking for.

Re: Unique Cards in an Arda Deck?

The biggest problem with more than 3 non-uniques or multiple uniques is that the deck starts getting too big. You'd end up having to cut other cards... but then you lose some of the fun of Arda -- that anything is possible! One way to get around the 'influence away' problem is to adjust the rules fo...

Re: Totally random question - what's the deal with Halbarad's stats?

They wanted a cheap sage who could squat at a haven and do sage stuff, and I think they just slapped Halbarad's name on the card they designed without much consideration to theme. Halbarad was the leader of the elite Grey Company, so it's especially galling (even more so when compared to Beretar, wh...

Re: Which sets are best for ARDA?

I think CDavis7M is right that the Ahunt manifestations are simply too punishing in Arda, and make it so that nobody will even attempt dragon country (making for a less interesting game). That said, it can be *very* annoying when all the At Homes come out -- they have universal negative effects like...
