Re: Open To The Summons In The Pool
Theoretically possible interpretation: For the same reason for which FW player may not reveal/play 6 mind character if there is no Thrall of the Voice already revealed/played, Open To The Summons may not be revealed/played if there is no company. But 6 minders are not allowed to go into the draft u...

Re: Open To The Summons In The Pool
I was curious whether "may be played with a starting company" changes (negates) playability condition "Playable on company" during startup. Yeah, that was my train of thought. Cards that work in a different way when revealed on guard (Foolish Words, Near to Hear a Whisper and oh...

Re: Open To The Summons In The Pool
Yes, I'm suggesting that, because of the "revealed as a character" thing. I think Orders from Lugbúrz is different, as it does not say that, it says that must be played with the company in lieu of a minor item, so there is an actual need of some kind of company. You could not play a minor ...

Re: Open To The Summons In The Pool
Yes, it's problematic and can happen, I agree. But in the specific case of Open to the Summons, if the character you intended to play bounces, you can paly another agent, or just leave the card in the starting company and try to use it during the game. This specific card will not cause you "leg...

Re: Open To The Summons In The Pool
Well, the previous phrase on the card is This card may be played with a starting company in lieu of a minor object. That would limit the number of copies in the pool to 2. If you add it to: reveal it when starting companies are determined as if it were a character then you have: a- 2 copies max in t...

Re: Open To The Summons In The Pool
Yeah, I know, but the card says "reveal it when starting companies are determined as if it were a character". You are not playing it with the same mechanic of a permanent event, you are playing it as a character.

Re: Open To The Summons In The Pool
And according to the definition: If a Nazgûl is tapped to become a short-event as printed on its card, it turns into a short-event upon declaration. At this point, the Nazgûl is a short-event just as if had been played as such from your hand. resolves to: "If a Nazgûl is tapped to become a sho...

Re: Open To The Summons In The Pool
Where I'm going with all of this is that in the draft it seems that the rules that the game follows when the turns start seem not to be followed during the draft. You place cards, you reveal them, and from that point on they may or may not allow you to place other cards and reveal them. Honestly, I ...

Re: Open To The Summons In The Pool
You could be right, makes sense, but the rule only uses reveal, not play. With that thread of reasoning... could you reveal Strider during the draft and, after you have your initial company composed, change it with Aragorn II (if you have 1 spare GI point left), because the character is "in pla...

Re: Open To The Summons In The Pool
Maybe the point is that you don't play the characters (or perm-events) during the draft, you reveal them. Each Player selects up to 10 characters to put into his or her pool of potential starting characters. This happens before characters are selected for the play deck. Cer tain cards may be reveale...

Worlds 2023: Call for organizers
Greetings, community of MECCG players: From the Council of Elrond we want to start organizing this year's MECCG Worlds, in a face-to-face format. So far, we have tried to follow a Europe-Europe-America pattern every three years, to try to give the whole community a viable and not too expensive optio...

Re: Discarding face-up
From "Ruling by Term" Reveal Any revealed cards are shown to all players. If we turn that phase over, we could infer that "any card that is shown to all players is revealed". But maybe that is not correct? It sounds weird to me that a card that is shown to all players in the game...
