Re: COE logo

I don't get it--isn't the image on the Council index page good enough for a logo? Of the beautiful mountains and sky, done by Ted Nasmith, I believe? I also believe someone said that Nasmith agreed to give up copyright for his work, or at least he is now allowing people to freely redistribute his ar...

Re: charter rewrite: period of playtesting before erratum?

Although I was originally going to say "6 months, of course!" it occurred to me that any crazy erratum ideas will be shouted down in the forums, and the ones under strong consideration have been so for YEARS, so they already have been "playtested". 6 months will merely bottleneck...

Re: charter rewrite: period of 12 or 24 months?

I vote 24, with a caveat that inactive members can be replaced by the council (NOT by a new vote to the community).

The community is not going to vote every year on Council members, at least not with a noticeable turnout.

Re: Charter rewrite

Good work everyone! 1) Re the inability of council members to finish their terms: Let's keep the powers of the COE broad in this situation, and say that "COE members will vote on who to replace the inactive member with." I don't think we need to be more specific. 2) Re the bi-monthly newsl...

Re: Erratum Proposal: Blind/Ire and Ring Tests

I'm interested in supporting Thorsten's proposal, since if we're going to erratta a card, it would be nice to "fix" other imbalances with it as well. However, again, I'm stymied by a lack of understanding of games where these hazards have been all-deciding. Despite my experience, I just ca...

Re: Time limit during online tournaments

The idea of time limits on gccg came up many years ago. During this time, I argued that if we had some sort of time limit, it should not be a time limit per say (because of the reasons already mentioned here), but rather a *turn limit*. For example, for tournament GCCG play, we could set a maximum t...

Re: COE Agenda 2010/11 - GCCG

Regarding sending suggestions to Wiggi for a new version of gccg... Years ago, I tried several times to get Wiggi to implement changes. I wrote him some very long and very detailed emails about items that could be improved with the software, ways to make it more popular to new players. He was gratef...

Re: Charter rewrite

Hello everyone! Have a good time at Lure! Great job Ben. I would only add a few things, in addition to voicing my support for a 2-year term (not for me personally, but this was discussed beforehand and there were good reasons: *I am not sure what "natural persons" means *Right now the char...

Re: COE Agenda 2010/11 - list of items

Great points, everyone. Although of course they will need their own specific threads, ,any of these topics can be grouped under the heading PROMOTING THE GAME, such as: - worlds (long expected party) - COE treasury - COE promotion items and prize stuff - - release of virtual card series - reprinting...

Re: Erratum Proposal: Cards Playable On Automatic Attacks

I was always displeased with the way the cards playable on auto-attacks had been ruled, because it made it VERY DIFFICULT for players to remember, and not at all intuitive. So I would give my AYE to opening this revision up for debate. However, it was my understanding that the rules people had good ...

Re: On the Balrog 2-Mind rule and the Real Culprit

I don't have a clear judgment here, since other players have used these cards more than I have, but just some considerations: *Negative play experience is a big deal. If these cards remove some of the fundamental interactions of the game--facing autos, for instance--on a common, likely basis, then w...

Re: ICE-Era Rulings and Conservatives

Great reflections guys. As i've mentioned in the Saving the Game doc, I fully support making errata changes. We just must walk the same fine line real game companies have to deal with: balancing the frustration of some players who don't like a card's function vs. the card's overall negative impact o...

Re: CoE Website Rules Documents Incomplete

Hey Ben,

Aren't the rules inserts on the COE main page under "Rules" good enough for these purposes? Mark and co. made verbatim copies of ALL rules inserts, and they are posted here as pdfs.

Re: A Universal Rules Document?

Ben, it's really amazing that you are doing all this work--on a document that is solely needed by the community--and I applaud your commitment to it. However, partly for the purposes of saving you work, but also for the purposes of correct rules interpretations, I do want to point out that the Unive...
