Greetings All,

Gandalf Gene and rezwits are still consulting, but in all likelihood we are a go for this event--most likely game times are Saturday afternoon/evening (1 PM to closing) and Sunday from opening up until around dinner time. Further details to be provided, but am looking forward to being there!

So as far as the format, for Ringwraith Revenge I wanted to use these special optional rules:

CARD EFFECT LIMITATIONS
Certain cards from the original MECCG are inappropriate for play against MELE decks. The following cards will have no effect on a Ringwraith player. This is because the mechanism of the cards do not work with the mechanics of Ringwraith companies, or their effects is too powerful against a Ringwraith company.
>From ME: The Wizards
Bane of the Ithil-stone
Foul Fumes
Mûmak
The Nazgûl are Abroad
>From ME: The Dragons
Winds of Wrath
Worn and Famished
>From ME: Dark Minions
all events that require an agent
The Black Enemy's Wrath
Chance of Being Lost
Great Secrets Buried There
In the Heart of His Realm
Mordor in Arms

These below in bold are optional, and I want to have them in EFFECT, aka they have NO EFFECT on Ringwraith/Sauron players. So, if you choose to use them just realize they don't affect RW/Sauron players, only Wizard, Fallen-wizard, and Balrog:
There are also certain cards from the original MECCG that your play group may not want to use. Some of these are cards that represent too much of an intentional action by Sauron himself. Sauron would not go about hindering his own lieutenants as they do his work. The rest of these cards represent something closely associated to the heroes of Middle-earth. Playing them would make little sense in terms of simulating Tolkien's works. Again, it is up to your playgroup to decide if these cards have an effect on Ringwraith players:
>From ME: The Wizards
Eye of Sauron
Morgul-knife
The Pale Sword
Rogrog
>From ME: The Dragons
Black Breath
Gothmog
Many Sorrows Befall
>From ME: Dark Minions
Aware of Their Ways
Eyes of the Shadow
In Great Wrath
Long Dark Reach
Out of the Black Sky
Revealed to All Watchers
Wraith-lord

If for some reason, this is too complicated I guess we could just do regular game play, and these could affect RW/Sauron players. These are all options from the Standard Rulebooks...

Playing as a Fallen-wizard deck restrictions are you may not include any of the following cards:
The Balrog
Cracks of Doom
Favor of the Valar
Gollum’s Fate
Hour of Need
Kill All But Not the Halflings
The Lidless Eye
The Sun Unveiled
Glamour of Surpassing Excellence
Messenger of Mordor
News Must Get Through
News of the Shire
Old Road
The Windlord Found Me
Wizard Uncloaked
Use Your Legs

Playing as the Balrog deck restrictions are that you may not include any of the following cards:
Above the Abyss
The Lidless Eye
Bade to Rule
Morgul-blade
The Balrog (Ally)
News of the Shire
The Black Council
Open to the Summons
Black Horse
Orders from Lugbúrz
Black Rider
Padding Feet
By the Ringwraith’s Word
The Ring Leaves its Mark
Creature of an Older World
Ringwraith cards
Fell Rider
Sauron
The Fiery Blade
They Ride Together
Helm of Fear
Use Your Legs
Heralded Lord
While the Yellow Face Sleeps
Durin’s Bane
Balrog of Moria
Kill All But NOT the Halflings

I wanted to make an Exception that they would. My Logic was that ALL PLAYERS, should have the 1 counterspell...especially since they get all the other GOODIES...

We could leave that up for debate... HAHA I am ok with Sorrows affecting ALL and being the Exception, a player mentioned they should just use Wrath of the West from MELE...

If we want to vote I'll start!

+1 Sorrows affects Minion ;)

Just a heads up in case anyone is interested:

Saturday, I will be bringing:

All 10 Challenge Decks sleeved up
4 Site Decks (Hero & Minion, sleeved up)
Laptop (with rules in pdf form on hand for quick searches if needed)

My 6 Decks Built, 2 Hero | 2 Minion | 2 Fallen
1 of the above is a Dreamcard Deck...

Cooler with water bottles and ice, they have stuff for sale too.

Other various extras that I'll grab on the way out...

Sunday, I will be adding to the above list:

My Cube of 1 of every card built and ready for drafting.

This is an old post, when I introduced my cube:

Some things have changed since, major changes are:

Instead of the Wizards only having 3 copies of each there are 6 copies of each Wizard.
What this will allow is, if you get 3 copies and feel good about your draft you can play the Wizard comfortably.
Nazgûl can be played and you really only need 2 copies of your RW and 1 as a Follower, which could also be your RW, so it's fine.

There is a Fallen-wizard option as I will have all 15 (5x3) copies available as a Trade-in option, if you wish to play FW because you get a good draft, I don't forsee anyone wanting to play the same FW so...

In addition there are enablers for FWs such as Great Patron, Blind to all Else, Legacy of Smiths, etc So that you CAN SCORE!

I am not familiar with MTG since around '98, but from your other post it seems like you build a deck on the spot from an assortment of randomly delt cards. But! More interesting I think is that you only have 1 of the non-enablers, which probably leads to unpopular cards seeing play, right? That novelty sounds fun.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to this event. But hopefully I can meet up another time.

Greetings rezwits,

Sounds like you're all set! I understand Gandalf Gene will be there both Saturday and Sunday (you can confirm with him via email). I will do a road trip there Sunday, 3 March--I understand it is *SNOWING* there in Vegas today? Hopefully the weather will be warmer in a couple of weeks. :)

Sadly, I will not be able to attend this event in early March. =(

I will be forced to work this weekend due to the wife’s travel needs for school.

Thanks rezwits for hosting! I know it will be a lot of fun!

Thats too bad, but yeah having the regular at just 1 of in the cube, are to find new things out/strategies out of nowhere that even just having 1 of a card can do.

We should have great weather next Saturday and Sunday, I am glad we didn't do things this weekend WHEW...

btw, I'm going to bring my cube for Saturday and/or Sunday, depending on player counts, and I think you have the Arda Game (that you and Gene use so, I'll just have everything that I got both days)

Greetings All,

Had a great time with MECCG this weekend, though I was able to make it only on Sunday. Many thanks to Justin and to Gandalf Gene, and especially to rezwits for hosting the festivities! The Cube draft for Hero characters, resources, and hazards went smoothly for me, as I was able to get a nice starting company of Thranduil, Strider, and Arwen to go with a selection of palantiri and Gondor factions. The uniqueness of every card available in the Cube magnified the importance of every card, so I felt fortunate to acquire a Marvels Told in the draft, which I could set up for reuse after I acquired the Palantir of Annuminas to go with a Use Palantir. Unfortunately, Strider corrupted to a Lure of Power after he recruited the Knights of Dol Amroth (I'd left an Athelas on him, :( ). Justin won an early call at 20 MPs, withstanding multiple Greed checks after Thorin obtained his much-desired Arkenstone.

The day trip was quite nice, as it was a "normal" weekend and not too many of my fellow Southern Californians went to Vegas this past weekend. Most significantly, I was able to get to The Oyster Bar at the Palace Station Hotel/Casino on Sahara. This is a 20-seat bar that has cooking and shucking stations set up right in front of the seating area, and is held to be one of the best oyster and Cajun food bars in town. There were about 14 people in line when I arrived, which worked out to just under an hour of waiting in line, but boy was the wait worth it! I ordered a House Seafood Etouffe for myself and a House Seafood Gumbo to go, and it was most excellent! :D This is now open 24/7, if anyone is in the area and wishes to indulge:

rezwits, please chime in when you have time on the Saturday gaming that I missed. We hope to make this MECCG in Vegas a semi-regular happening, so see you all again soon!

What a great time with good friends.

Got there early, with dolly loaded with whatever I had.

Gandalf Gene was there, and we started a Dreamcard game for an opener while we were expecting a 3rd player to show up in few.

GG was playing a Galadriel Elf-lord DC Deck, and I was playing my Gandalf FW DC Deck. We went thru pretty smooth with only 1 rule we couldn't really wrap our head around, which was wether or not Elf-lords could bring in Character's at their OWN Haven, or in other words did EL get the standard "Bringing in Characters at a Haven" FW privilege, or even further if EL are treated like FWs? or Wizards? For these purposes or just hazards. But in any case things were ok as we fiddled with our Dreamcards. I don't want to blow the intricacies of the decks too much because coming up with a "Released" DC Deck Idea is tough. I did get a few lucky shots in with my Spiders, but for the most part my hand was emptied of Hazards due to good ole Show Things Unbidden!

I had an unfortunate loss of Frerin (worth 9 MPs) trying to give Glamdring to Gandalf while carrying Durin's Axe with a More or Less Decent Giant. I did have some success but in the end the game was over with a score of about 38 to 30 (but down to 27, because I couldn't get my Gandalf back in play soon enough to get the extra FW character MPs) I tapped all my guys to get the transfer as low as possible so only a 2 would fail, and you guessed it, snake-eyes (ha-ha):

Image

Later in the day, a local player (Justin) showed up, and we were able to get 2 multiplayer games in later after lunch with GG's modified challenge decks, which was actually some serious fun in learning how to just use and abuse Many Turns and Doublings! That card if used wisely is amazing.

The following Sunday, Tradewind showed up and we got to hang out again, since 2017 September, his beard's gotten some more greys, haha, But I finally got to crack open the cube, which we made a QUICK adjustment to, in that we decided only to draft for HERO PLAY.

I felt things went pretty nice, the only modification is adding, Marvel's Told and Voices of Malice, to the "Support Cards" when drafting for either Hero or Minion, respectively. Althought Tradewind, got two off and if he could have gotten his Focus Palantir, would have had the engine!! haha

I am going to be playing events live every 6 months from here on (I am gettin' old) :P
The rest of my days will be on the computer playing online...

Hoping one day to match the revelry that is Lure and Worlds!!

THANKS TO YOU GUYS for Making this AWESOME!! The room was perfect for what we were doing I felt!
