Hi folks,
lately there are some new user which seem to have no real interest in ME. If you have a look at their homepages you will see how I mean.

If you're talking about the spam-bots -- we already know. We're trying to keep tabs on new users by, for example, monitoring their websites.

What about members # 85, 09, 91, 92? If they aren't spybot I don't know.
We shall make a announcement in the Policy Forum that people with www-links to bets and sex sites are banned. This would kicked the numbers above.

I agree with Sfan on this point.Sfan wrote: We shall make a announcement in the Policy Forum that people with www-links to bets and sex sites are banned. This would kicked the numbers above.

And again quite some spambot-added members.

Hi @all,
I had spam problems in the Lure Of MECCG and in the austrian forum, too. Some month ago I did a few things that helped solving the spam
problem. I did those changes to this forum and I hope it will help:
- Enable visual confirmation (some spambots can read them :( )
- Create blacklist for usernames: usernames containing spam keywords are now disallowed
- Modification of registration html/php code: I renamed the field 'username' to 'coe_reg', so spambots will have problems to register.
Files: includes/usercp_register.php and templates/subsilver/profile_add_body.tpl
- I disabled the field 'website' at registration. You can change the website later in your profile settings. Spambots have no chance to post weblinks to their registration.
Let's see if those changes will help.

I started to delete spam users:
They normally have a odd username, 0 posts, a www link to a non-meccg site and interests like golf :)
I hope I will not delete 'real' users ;)
UPDATE: Already 100 spam user registrations removed.
UPDATE: removed 60 spam user registrations.
