for the dream-card fans all over the world, and for any meccg player with an ounce of Tookish blood...

...a DCGO tournament will be hosted on gccg in September, to prepare for the upcoming official release of the first two dream-card sets, the so called DC First Folk (see http://www.councilofelrond.org/forum/vi ... =32&t=1864)

The tournament will serve as a last round to iron out glitches, hear your wishes and complaints, and further promote playing DC First Folk games.

format:
- the tournament will be standard DC General Opponent, but only dream-cards of the first 2 sets (firstborn/durin's folk) will be allowed (including promos).
- since this seriously lowers the amount of available dc cards, the dc minimums will be lowered to:
25% dc cards in deck for heroes (with a 25% overall minimum). I.e. 8 resource and 8 hazard in deck, and 25% overall.
20% for minions (and a 20% overall minimum), i.e. 6 resource and 6 hazard in deck.
- players with 50% dc cards (40% for minions) in play deck will get an extra TP per game, win or lose!
- games will as usual be paired cross alignment if possible. If not possible, then Elf and Dwarflords will be paired, and after that random pairing.

prizes:
- a full gccg set of choice for 1st place
- 10 gccg boosters of choice for 2nd place (or 10 virtuals)
- 7 gccg boosters of choice for 3rd place (or 7 virtuals)
- 4 gccg boosters of choice for 4th place (or 4 virtuals) - yes, we award the 4th place here 8)

all players will receive a DC promo, and a gccg booster of choice (or virtual card), and (if they so wish) an honorary mentioning in the Player Guides as DC play-tester.

technical stuff:
- there has been a small card-shuffle recently, some cards were added from the DCFF and some deleted, so update your svn!
- unless there is serious opposition to this date, the tournament will start in week 36 (3-9 to 9-9), and end in week 39. One game per week, so 4 rounds. If there's still animo, we'll have a finals match.

So I hope you're all excited to join in this new style of meccg gaming. Post your name below if you want to participate.

I'm a possibility, but I may be too busy in September.

I'm counting on you Ben, I even bent the tournament rules so you could not lose 6-0 anymore

perhaps we should make a rule giving a player the right to use 1 DC dispensation card, which may come from any DC set. That would make playing Fallen Saruman somewhat easier for you...otherwise you'll have to wait till we release Treason of Isengard.

I guess the limitation to dream cards of the first 2 sets applies to sites as well?

Yep it applies to sites as well, sadly we want really wring this set dry to see if anything comes up, but of course you are welcome to point out any cheeze made available by using sites from later sets

Also all people can complain to me about cards they had or lost do to the new gccg update I am willing to donate some cards for these players who used to have full play set and do not anymore

not just for play testing purposes, but also some people complain that the DC world is too big for them.

So in this tourney people may know better what to expect, as the total set of cards to get acquinted with is much smaller. One excuse less to shun using dc cards

it also means not flying all over the DC map, which for many people is too big to digest.

A larger map does pose some mechanical problems; I like more limited areas.

I find the DC world a bit intimidating myself. Count me in!
