no, you can keep star of high hopes and/ or clear skies in play with echoes of all joy, so you can play that before ;)

hmm, I find that strategy rather unreliable, wouldn't want to base my one-ring deck on it.
I once ran a one-ring deck with the nenya quit lands trick. opponent flipped twilight, I respond with mine, he flips another one !? and then there's Many Sorrows. I mean, just like in the real world, it's always easier to destroy than to build

i agree with thorsten. It just make FWs dunk a bit easier? I mean, it might be easier to do morannon than "a new ringlord"...

I ran Morannon with Boromir and a bunch of other Dunedain. Seized by Terror really is the worst hazard against Morannon, that's the only way Jambo stopped me. It isn't too hard to get the necessary Fellowships, and passing the cc is as simple as Pledge of Conduct. :)

I'd forgotten all about that game..! That was a cracker if I remember correctly. :)

Actually, Mark and I already thought of the Pledge loophole.

Pledge does NOT work on Morannon's (V) CC from the One Ring for the same reason that it doesn't work on Cracks of Dooms: the card requires the "bearer" to "make a corruption check." In the case of Morannon (V), if the bearer is unable to make the check, or fails it, you apply the "otherwise..." condition, which means you **lose the game.**

Pledge transfers the One Ring instantly and so fizzles Morannon's targetting of the original One Ring bearer.

Oooh, good point -- Pledge doesn't make the cc succeed.

Oops, you don't lose the game--it merely fizzles Morannon.

I am sure there is a global MECCG rule somewhere that says if a card is fizzled, the card is discarded, correct?

I adjusted the file with the vc spoiler to have it alphabetized, so I can quickly find any card text.
