Would you like UEP to be used in virtual tournaments?

Let's start a new post for this question and have some discussion here.
I did not mean to start a discussion about dreamcards. My aim was to ask the virtual designers whether they would adopt UEPs for their tournaments or a selection thereof. It does not seem too much work to me to filter out the UEPs that are obsolete or overpowered with virtuals, as Thorsten says, and try to use the rest with virtuals.

voted option B, selection. I think the bigger part would be up for selection though, otherwise I would perhaps vote 'no'.

I thought these options were enough to see if any discussion or further effort in this direction is necessary. Also, I hope and expect that after the Nazgul at home UEPs the second option will be chosen most.

Voted No.

The power of virtual cards in what they can bring to the game means there's no real need for UEPs. UEPs were designed as unofficial errata for the normal rules. Virtual cards can do anything UEPs can do and then some. Just look at the <Ringwraith> Unleashed cards for a good example.

Voted no. Such a thing should be used at the discretion of the tournament organizer, not as a mandatory part of Virtual Cards.

to Brandobras: of course it is up to the tournament organizer, but I think discussion is necessary beforehand if UEPs can be used at all. I never stated that it should always be used, but just wanted to see if there is room for them.

For most of the UEPs I do not care too much if they are used or not, but there are a few exceptions: Balrog of Moria with body and German promo's specifically.

to Jambo: for several cards UEP can make something playable, without enough text change to require a virtual version.

I also really like the Balrog with a body value UEP, but this could be done in a much more attractive and interesting fashion with a VC. For instance, what about virtualising one of those underused Spawn cards? Think up a cool new ability and then add the Balrog having a body as a small secondary effect...

voted no for the same reasons as Jambo and B_took

sry Jambo,

but one marvels or Voices and you will still give away 5 MP to your opponent; for the Balrog the only solution is to have the wording/body value on the card itself

Perhaps yes, but the simple fact of the matter is if the Balrog always has a body of 9, there will rarely be any of the deliberate confrontations which can make for exciting play. Unlike the Nazgul which can be killed by women, the Balrog doesn't have any innate weakness. Sometimes the promise of a good battle with the potential to receive 5 MPs is what makes this game so special. Still, your mileage my vary of course.

From the ICE Ruling Digest # 579 :

Is the Balrog considered a Ringwraith for the effects of Man female characters (i.e. the prowess and body modifications) ?

*** Yes, the Balrog is treated as a Ringwraith. While this is annoying, ICE did not believe it is enough of a game breaker to warrant an errata.

I guess Jambo is referring to the story of middle eart, not the card's abilities...

By the way this is only true for the Balrog-avatar not the creature.

Yes, as shapeshifter said.
