Note: This was split from the thread with the vote for the new website. I split it off here so we can lock the other thread as done (since the motion passed). --Josh H.
The website is now up and running and ready to showcase! A couple people have even entered their names into the Global Players List already.
Go to:
http://www.councilofelrond.org/new/index.php?id=1 to see the full glory of the new website.

I just added profiles for all members of CoE (voting and non-voting). Your name is the same as your screenname here, and your password (until you change it) is the same as your screenname.
Please don't abuse this info

Do we want to move the new website to replace the old website? (so when you go to
www.councilofelrond.org you'll see the new one instead of the old one?). If it's ready for others to view I can go ahead and move it.

there are still a few things that should be updated.
1) current memebers: aren´t there more non-voting members?
2) major decisions: only till 2005. makes it look like the sire is outdated.
3) national councils: many smaller updates are needed.
4) projects: no projects?? that doesn´t show us in a good light ... what about workingon a new charter, global players directory, organizing worlds 07, newsletter, judge program, ...
5) there is a members area. but how can i register? did see anything ...
in another thread mark told me, that i am able now to enter players into the directory. how can i do that???
don´t get me wrong: i really like the new homepage. lots of thanks to all of you who had a part in creating it!!
still i would prefer to have it up to date as much as possible before it goes public. and i am willing to help with updating some contents (directory, councils ...)

Concerning (1): who else needs to be added? I thought I got everyone.
(2) and (4) were taken care of today.
You are already registered, Wolfgang. Just sign in to create more accounts. Currently, only administrators can create accounts. This is probably for the better, so that spammers and Tolkien-Enterprises and Flying Dutchmen cannot enter the site. Those with admin access (Steffen, Stefan, Wolfgang, Sergio, and I -- I think!) can add new accounts for the people on the GPL. This is easy:
(a) sign in.
(b) scroll down a little and click on "add user".
(c) enter the relevant data for the user
(d) click "add user".
I added many spanish players today, and I will try to add more people over the weekend.

One feature request: Can we make the players list sortable? (click on Name, it sorts by name, click on username to sort that, etc.) Looking at the database, I see that Name and Surname are separate fields, so we should be able to sort last name first, then first name. Will this be too hard to implement?

imo even better would be to sort the countries of the players. most will have a look there to find some other players in their region.

It is already sorted by country right now....

I suggest to disable our email adresses by using [a] instead of @ in order to minimize spam mails. Both on the Current Member as well as on the National Councils site. And for the silenttower-mailinglist on the Projects page (2x).

sometimes it helps to look at things first before talking about it ...

Sortability will be added soon.
Meantime, the 'new' has dropped out of the url, so don't worry if you get a 404 error trying to go to the 'new' site.

Request came in recently: people should be not just yes/no player, yes/no collector, but also yes/no ORGANIZER. Does this make sense to y'all?

The website was down for a few hours last night. We're not sure whether it was simply a glitch, or an outside attack. Let's hope it was the former, though I have my doubts....

Couple of things regarding Project section of the new site:
Firstly, thanks for the props on UEPs! Minor typo but my name's actually Pollock, rather than Pollack.
Secondly, under projects you might want to also mention Virtual Cards too?
Lastly, well one on the new site!
