charter rewrite: period of 12 or 24 months?

Post by thorondor » Thu Mar 24, 2011 8:26 pm

lets decide if the period of a COE session is 12 or 24 months.
the poll runs 5 days, so there is still time to discuss a little bit.

I voted for 12 month. As pointed out already in another thread I see a potential problem with members who might become inactive or leave the council during the given period for whatever reason. Shall them be replaced and if so, how? I don't see a good way to deal with this. So let's better keep it to 12 months.
In the event that a member is not able to bring his term to completion, a new member shall be appointed based on the results of the election; if such is unfeasible, a special election shall be held among the non-voting CoE members.
Well this could be a solution. I don't think it's a good solution, though. There are so many things that can happen during 24 month.

of course we still have to deal with the same problem, when a COE gets lost in a 12 months period.

I vote 24, with a caveat that inactive members can be replaced by the council (NOT by a new vote to the community).

The community is not going to vote every year on Council members, at least not with a noticeable turnout.

It's easy to get a replacement system in. 24 Months.
Remember, NetRep rulings are official. This does not necessarily mean they are correct.

You probably aren't playing Fallen Wizards correctly. This prompted the backlash erratum that I will link to as soon as I notice it is officially posted. :)
