INFORMATION
It is unclear how the "replace" mechanism works with this card. No doubt it was intended to act as other gold ring tests and have the gold ring discarded while playing another ring in its place. The language used, however, causes room for doubt. Stating that you are to "replace" the ring rather than "play" a ring also has implications for cards such as Rumours of Rings.

The idea behind this erratum is to ensure Ringlore mechanically works in a similar fashion to other ring testing resource cards (Wizard's Test, Test of Form, Test of Lore), notably - you must discard the gold ring item you are testing and then you may play another ring item (not necessarily from hand).

Under the current language, it can be argued that "replacing" the Gold Ring might mean bringing the Gold Ring back to your hand and then playing another Ring, rather than discarding the Gold Ring.

BALLOT ITEM # 6:
Are you in favor of issuing the following erratum?

RINGLORE
Change This:
Sage only, only playable at a site where ʺInformationʺ is playable, and only if a character in his company has a Gold Ring. Play to test a Gold Ring. No roll (or draw) is used. The player may replace the Gold Ring with any ring from his hand (except for The One Ring). Playable only during the site phase. Tap the sage and the site. (E)
(current CRF erratum in bold)

To This:
Sage only - playable only during the site phase if a sage is untapped at an untapped site where ʺInformationʺ is playable, and only if a character in his company has a Gold Ring. Tap the sage and the site. Test the Gold Ring, no roll (or draw) is used, the player may discard the Gold Ring and play any ring to replace it (except for The One Ring).
(changes in bold for clarity)

CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR VOTE:
If you vote YES, then Ringlore may be used in conjunction with Rumours of Rings to play a ring, and the Gold Ring Item being tested must be discarded. Ringlore would function similarly to other testing resources (Wizard's Test, Test of Form, etc.)

If you vote NO, then Ringlore will remain unchanged. It will be up to each playgroup and tournament judge to decide how this card functions and whether or not it can be used with Rumours of Rings and if the Gold Ring being replaced is discarded.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
- It is highly likely that ICE intended for Ringlore to act mechanically in a similar fashion to the other ring testing resource cards and they just sloppily worded the verbiage on Ringlore: using "replace the gold ring" and "ring from his hand."
- If this erratum proposal is passed, the CRF entry which states "RINGLORE - Card Erratum - Add 'Playable only during the site phase. Tap the sage and the site.'" will be removed, as it would be redundant.
- The minion version of this card Secrets of Their Forging states: "Discard the gold ring item." Further evidence that the Ringlore language is in need of improvement.
