Playing a card

CRF, Rulings by Term, Playing a Card wrote:Playing a card is the process of bringing a card from your hand into play.

I propose the following erratum:

"Playing a card is the process of bringing a card into play."
We will not speak of such things even in the morning of the Shire.

I think that this needs to stipulate ", normally from your hand." Otherwise it may be argued that cards in your discard/sideboard/deck/etc could be played at will, since the normal rules for card play do not restrict to play from hand.

I propose the following erratum:

"Playing a card is the process of bringing a card into play (unless otherwise stated: from hand)."
We will not speak of such things even in the morning of the Shire.

Into play tho, needs to be clarified :(

Because playing a card does not mean "hit the table/playing surface" i.e. short-events that resolve. They may just go straight to the discard pile, or even back to hand...

almost there...
You probably aren't playing Agents correctly 8) <- need a rule thread for this tho...

How does one play this game but with their "hand" . With feet?

I think I disagree with the ruling in the original discussion as far as "who" is doing the "playing", i.e. "revealing" as a bypass to "playing."

But also,I just want to note that some cards have effects without playing but mention that they are not played. And Memories Recalled does not state that it isn't played, but I think it should be.

Semi-related is a ruling about whether Stage Resources can be "discarded" from hand in response to Echo of Songs.

Are there any other reasons for making these proposed changes besides "Long dark reach + Monstrosity of diverse shape" ?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the premise for this proposal is:
CRF, Rulings by Term, Playing a Card that excludes possibility of playing a card from sources other than hand.
However, the CRF explicitly states:
Some of these clarifications are considered errata to the rules or cards, and are noted as such. The Turn Sequence and Rulings by Term sections are specifically considered clarifications to the rules, and are therefore overridden by card text that specifically does so. A complete list of errata is included.

Reason is a removing of absurd.

If playing means is "the process of bringing a card from your hand into play"
Then playing from hand means "the process of bringing a card from your hand from hand into play"
Playing a site card implies the the card to be played is in player's hand, not in location deck.
We will not speak of such things even in the morning of the Shire.

In cardnum, we must bring the site card to our hand first anyway. ;)
