For example I want to find a card that has "pilfer" in its name.
When I start typing, Cardnum tries to display all cards that have "p" in its name, then it tries to display only the card that have "pi" in its name then, when "pil" has been typed, it displays "Against the Shadow: Pilfer Anything Unwatched".
What I would want is to not to start a searching and displaying until I type some phrase and confirm it by pressing ENTER .
It would allow to avoid a huge traffic and associated slowdown.
If currently there is no way to achieve such behavior of the page, then please threat this post as a feature request.
How to stop instant searching?

We will not speak of such things even in the morning of the Shire.
When that aspect annoys me I type into another place and copy-paste over. Google docs does this as well, and in large documents it is debilitating.
One [online community] with hammer and chisel might mar more than they make...

Me too. That involves Notepad, for example.
I would prefer a solution that does not involve "other place".

I've noticed this issue too. But it doesn't always happen. Sometimes it's quick and no problem. Other times it's testing me. I have resorted to the copy paste technique also. I think in the past there used to be a delay/freeze but I haven't noticed it so much lately.
Maybe too obvious a tip but if I'm not looking for Dream Cards than I remove that option and it seems smoother.
