Ok, rule conflict here:
LE rules:
untapped defender chooses, untapped attacker chooses, defender chooses rest
CRF:
Tapped defending characters choose their strikes after untapped attacking characters have assigned their strikes.
I have one tapped and one wounded character vs a lone character attacking.
Can I assign the wounded guy or do I have to pick the tapped guy?

I don't see a conflict here. I read CRF entry as clarification for LE rule, that in original form is a bit wiredrawn.
CRF just describes part "untapped attacker chooses, defender chooses rest".
CRF just describes part "untapped attacker chooses, defender chooses rest".

For company vs. company combat, the process for assigning strikes differs slightly from normal combat:
* First, the defender chooses which untapped characters will be the targets of given strikes.
* Then, the attacker chooses which other defending characters not yet assigned a strike will be the target of any remaining unassigned strikes corresponding to his untapped characters.
* Finally, the defender assigns any remaining strikes to his characters that have not been assigned strikes.
We will not speak of such things even in the morning of the Shire.
