AFAIK when Alatar teleports, he takes his items with him and discards his allies. I assume any followers would remain where they are.

However, I have no idea why the different effects on these different types of cards exists; aren't they all just cards controlled by Alatar?
I've tried to find rules or rulings on this, but failed....

It is just caprice of ICE.

Likewise So You've Come Back.
CRF, Errata (Cards), So You've Come Back wrote:If two companies join, and both companies have a So You've Come Back played on
them, the hazard player chooses which one to discard. A character in a company with
just allies is by himself for the purposes of this card.
General rule is:

You think that's bad, wait until you find out that an attack receiving +1 strike and prowess is an action created by a passive condition.

ICE made many rulings and adjustments to the game that don't really follow any sort of logic. It's one of the things that makes the NetRep's job nightmarish at times.
The game is flawed, but this does not mean it cannot be loved.

Not quite to the topic, but in response to quoted post.
There is some pattern that decides that some bonuses are treated as action cauased by passive condition (like bonuses from Rank Upon Rank) and some as continous effect (like bonuses from Clear Skies).
In first case things that cause action (and coincidentally recipients) exist in play only momentary (like any faced attack). In second case recipients of bonuses exist in play continously. Treating them as passive conditions of an actions would cause perpetual triggering of the actions.

EDIT:
recipient -> recipients

Thanks for the reply. At least now I know my interpretation is correct. I still have no idea where to find the rule or ruling which tells me this though.. Only thing I can find in the CRF is that allies are discarded. Is the effect on items and followers written down anywhere?

I see that Alatar can only teleport in the Move and site phases. That is the equivalent
to me of losing Alatar as a controller. So his followers continue to remain in play
but remain not under GI or DI. So Alatar can move to his old company in time
to keep his followers in play under his DI. So Alatar's ability of teleport
is really a 1.5 wizard in your game. You can even play a strategy
to keep his company at a haven and another within four regions.
Just my inexperience opinion. I was on the wrong side of the Narya debate so you know.
