Small black number on middle right side of card?

What does this number mean? Haven't seen it mentioned in the Wizards rulebook. It's 11 for Frodo, for example...

It also seems to exist on every type of card.

These numbers are made to use as dices if you don't have ones.

When you have to make a roll, you draw a card, and the number is the result. Then, you have to discard the card.

So you'd better have dices !

Thanks! Ok another one -- what are the two numbers at the lower left corner of the site cards? Think one is right side up, the other upside down.
