Ah, I was assuming your complaint had something to do with rules.
The game is flawed, but this does not mean it cannot be loved.

Non-card entity cannot tap for support (and for anything), cannot be tapped, or discarded (ally may survive removing its controlling character from active play), or returned to hand.
all very valid points!
intuition can count for something :-)
