After a hiatus of several years, I am picking back the game but I do not know where to start with the rules.
I've seen that now there is a Universal Rule Reference (URD), the CoE Issued Erratas and the good old CRFs.
If I'm not wrong the URD includes already the CRFs, so my understanding is that reading it and complementing with the Erratas from the CoE should do it.
Or am I missing something?
Cheers,
Turin

The URD will eventually be the go-to place. Right now it is unofficial, but a handy compilation.

Current "CoE Official", in order of precedence:
  • CoE Issued Erratas
  • CoE ruling digests (last to first)
  • Council of Lorien Tournament Rules
  • ICE digests 579-588 (did not have a chance to be incorporated into a CRF)
  • CRF 15
  • METB rulebook (not counting the summary per a CoE ruling digest)
  • The remaining rulebooks in backwards chonological order
Of course, this subforum exists to help each other, and many questions are quick to ask and straightforward to answer. Others take lots of research and are open to interpretation. There is currently no judge system in place.

How much of the rules have you forgotten?

You can get 99% of the way there with just the METW/MELE books, The Dragons, Dark Minions, and White Hand rules sheets. See
https://councilofelrond.org/rules/.
Also, read just the CRF errata section at the end (just the errata, it is only about 2 pages). And maybe the The Council of Loren Tournament rules.

I wouldn't bother reading the URD, the CoE rulings, and Digests or the CRF. Just use them as a reference when you have a question.

Check out http://cardnum.net/ if you haven't yet.

If it was easy there might be more than two active members with Rules Wizard titles as of this post. ;)

@Theo
I said exhaustive... not easy :P
On the contrary, what I really meant was " Ohhh my gosh....I'm never going to make it" :D

@CDavis7M
After 10 years, what I remember of the game can be summarized in:
there are some companies, they move to sites to gather "stuff", and if my opponent had put an "on guard hazard"...oh boy! I could spend hours trying to get the ruling right. :D

Ah ok. Well, I suggest that you refresh your understanding with these official-unofficial simplified rules created by ICE (attached). The name "Ichabod" in the document refers to one of the ICE play testers/netreps. He adapted this document from another guy at ICE that came up with these simplified rules for use when demoing the game at gaming conventions (where they might only have 30 minutes to do so).

These simplified rules aren't complete, but they explain the concepts at a high level and will get you back on your feet. Then you can read the METW or MELE rules at your own pace.
