Assassin MP after Dark Quarrel cancels attacks

If I cancel 2 attacks of Assassin and kill the last one, do I get the 2 MP?
The argument in favor:
CoE rule 3.v states: "If at least one strike was assigned and all assigned strikes were defeated, the creature is defeated and placed in the marshalling point pile of the defending player... If any of the strikes were not defeated or if no strikes were assigned, the creature is immediately discarded."
A canceled attack is not an "assigned" strike — it simply doesn't happen. Only strikes that were actually faced need to be defeated for the creature to count as defeated. Since the one remaining (non-canceled) strike was defeated, Assassin is fully defeated, and the kill MP is correctly awarded. Defeating all 3 original attacks is not required once 2 have been legitimately canceled.
Tapping to cancel a strike doesnt work (as the strike is assigned for that),
