Why is Halbarad the weakest character in the game?
And 1 Mind, so somebody on the design team didn't think too much of his willpower either?
I was just re-reading the Return of the King this week and it suddenly struck me that the values on this card are really bizarre because there's nothing in the text about him being enfeebled (of mind or body) or otherwise combat incapable. I did a quick google/wiki search to see if there was some lesser known source material that explains this, but didn't come up with anything.
Anybody have any ideas on how Halbarad ended up as MECCG's weakest character?
Totally random question - what's the deal with Halbarad's stats?
They wanted a cheap sage who could squat at a haven and do sage stuff, and I think they just slapped Halbarad's name on the card they designed without much consideration to theme. Halbarad was the leader of the elite Grey Company, so it's especially galling (even more so when compared to Beretar, who shows what Halbarad's stats probably should have been).
Funny isn't it how he's such a wuss, even though Tolkien describes him as "Halbarad, dour-handed Ranger." I wonder if the hand he has raised in the picure on his card is the dour one....
--Oh! That's the problem! We thought it said "Halbarad, FLOUR-handed Ranger."
