These are the result of the poll for the playmats.

30 people made clear their preferences (a few via email). 4 of these, however, have not signed up to participate in the ME:NE project.

Using a 6 point system where the first 3 choices of artwork get awarded points (3,2,1):
sample F was most popular with 43 points, C got 32, A 29, B 23, D 21, and E only 10. Not everybody listed 3 choices, and some listed more.

10 people voted for no deckpile slots, and 5 didn't care.
7 were in favour of the positions as indicated on sample F. 5 people liked E best. C got 2 votes, A got only 1.

18 people voted for no text, 5 didn't care, and 7 people are in favour of accompanying texts.

In conclusion, it is fair to say opinions are quite divided.
Artwork F, C and A are the favourites.
33% likes to see nothing but artwork on the playmat, 50% do like deckpile indicators, and then mostly (80%) positioned vertically and to the side.
only 25% explicitly like text on the playmat.
and nobody likes dotted lines :-)

nb. Text for artist credits is non-optional...

thank you for your input, even if some ideas cannot be realised this year (like a 2 player mat), it might be possible the next time around.

- I have added an meccg logo with Burning Eye.
- I have made a sample playmat with an MP counter, but still I'm on the fence about it. It might be useful, but there are considerations.
1. Most people seem to dislike anything that distracts from the artwork.
2. There already exist MP counters specific to meccg.
3. Placing a counter on a playmat is not a secure way of keeping score, as the counter can easily be displaced.
4. How far should the count reach? If the numbers are too big (to allow bigger counters), it will eat up much of the playmat.

Hey Thorsten, I'm not in the ME:NE business, but please tell me more regarding this:

they were included in the gift box sets. I don't have an image at hand, but see for example the topic here:
