For those participants in the ME: The Necromancer project who have ordered a playmat, we present a few options and are interested to hear your opinions.

The options are too many for a poll, so please respond in a post below, in the indicated fashion, your preference in terms of:

1) artwork (A, B, C, D, E, or F)
2) position of slots for deckpiles (A, C, E, or F)
3) presence of accompanying text for deckpiles and sections (yes, no)
optional:
4) presence of deckpile indicators (yes, no), and of other sections (i.e. dotted lines, yes or no)
5) other comments or suggestions

please stick to 1 post per forum member. If you are not a forum member yet, send me an email (and sign up for the forum! ;-))

I will open another thread for other info/questions about the playmat. And I'll moderate this topic ferociously to keep it clean!

I don't think I ordered a playmat on the form I submitted, but I want one! :D

My opinion is:

1) #1 Choice - A; #2 Choice - D; #3 Choice - F

2) A

3) On the fence, unsure.

4) Yes to both; however, only if the remainder of the playmat seems like sufficient space to properly accommodate one's cards in play. If this is questionable, I think having no indicators is best so one can place his play deck, etc. off to the side to create more playing area space.

5) I think it would be better to have the Play Deck and Discard piles on Mat A moved left to be up against the Out of Play pile. This way there is no wasted space between the Out of Play and Play Deck piles.

*** Edited my answers to add ranked choices for #1.

1) B, C, and F (though nice choices all around)
2) C (though A is ok)
3) I prefer the text
4) Yes, Yes
5) I'd prefer the maps were printed borderless, i.e. the art would run all the way to the edge. Unless there is a really slick border that someone wants to design.

Hello,

1) artwork : B, E, or F
2) position of slots for deckpiles : E. I really prefer when the play deck and discard pile are on the side. It takes less place on the playing area.
3) presence of accompanying text for deckpiles and sections : yes
optional:
4) yes and yes
5) edit : one playmat for Heros, Minions, FirstBorns and Durin's Folks is a great idea !

1) definitely C D & F, possibly A.
2) Preferably no slot as different people have diffent habits. If there are, I'd say only 2 and on the right vertically aligned for deck and discard. I prefer to keep out of play cards and sideboard further away so I prefer not to have them on the mat.
moderator edit: so, E
3) If there are slots, I'd prefer with text
5) I'd like to have (at least) one hero and one minion mat. I cannot play a hero deck on a minion mat, nor can I play a minion deck on a hero mat :)

1) Artwork => C A F
2) Position of slots for deckpiles => not at all (what about sites, sideboard ?)
3) presence of accompanying text for deckpiles and sections => no
4) presence of deckpile indicators and of other sections (i.e. dotted lines) => not really understood difference with 3)
5) other comments or suggestions => I'd like to have 4 mats :
- one Hero (e.g. F)
- one Minion (e.g. C or A)
- one FirstBorn
- one Durin's Folk
Hrum, Hoom ! Do not be hasty, that is my motto.

Same here. :)

1) Artwork: B, C, E, F (in that order of preference).

2) Position of slots for deckpiles: No slots at all would be preferable. If we end up with slots, I too have a strong preference for slots near the edge, i.e. E or F.

3) Presence of accompanying text for deckpiles and sections: No (this may also make it easier to use the playmat for other games).

4) Presence of deckpile indicators: no (they distract from the artwork and are not really needed for play).
Presence of other sections: no (no dotted lines in particular as these run a high risk of interfering with a specific player's way to play or with a specific game's flow).

5) Other comments or suggestions: Thanks a ton for the awesome design. I agree that borderless or fancy border would be nice. I would be tempted to buy several motives if several were made.
