The Council of Elrond is now accepting bids to host World Championships 2008. Bids should be submitted before January 1st, 2008. All bids should indicate: (1) the name of the primary bidder, (2) the names of his/her helpers, (3) the proposed location (city and venue) for Worlds 2008, and (4) the proposed date for Worlds 2008 (sometime in the summer of 2008).

(1) Kris Van Beurden

(2) Bert Claessens, Michel Schelfhout, Bart Vanraes

(3) Outpost Gamecenter, Beggaardenstraat in Antwerp

(4) Any weekend of Summer 2008 is fine by me (and the venue). If you really need one, how does 10-13 July sound?

Yours was the only bid.

How does 2 weeks later sound (24-27 July). That's right in the middle of summer.

I'll have to ask the Outpost crew, but it shouldn't be too hard to schedule.

Just checking in. Any word on if this new date works? The sooner we can lock this in, the sooner we can issue an announcement. :)

Looks like Spain will be able to bring an important number of players to Antwerp :D At least, I know of many spanish players that are willing to go.

Does Ryanair fly to somewhere near there?

Ryanair flies to Charleroi, which is a 100 km. from Antwerp (but with an acceptable railway connection). They also fly to Eindhoven, a mere 80 kms. from the venue (but in the Netherlands rather than Belgium).

Best is of course to fly on Zaventem (very good railway connection, a mere 40 kms from Antwerp), but that's not a low-cost airport.
